Completing H1 tag for main page?

Postby Noodles » Tue Jun 28, 2011 10:33 am

I have asked this question on the Zen cart website but have not received a reply.

I understand that to complete the H1 tag for a zencart homepage, I need to edit the line (see attachment) in

/includes/languages/english/NAME_OF_YOUR_TEMPLATE/index.php

My question is, exactly where do I put the required text and which existing text do I overwrite? Thanks in advance.

Just go into your Admin -> Tools -> Define Page Editor

Select Define Main Page from the dropdown and HTMLArea from the other dropdown

Write something you want to say at the start of your homepage blurb i.e. Snuggly Baby Stuff

Highlight the phrase and click on the 3rd dropdown option on the HTML editor and select "Heading 1"

That gives you an H1 tag on your home page.

Thanks both - not sure what you mean Evocart though - where would I put the type I require?

Baa, I had the welcome message in there already and when I went into it again and highlighted one keyword within it as the "Heading 1", the whole welcome message showed up as the H1 tag. I have a few questions:

1) How would I have just the keyword as the H1?
2) How can I then set other keywords as the H2 and H3? I see options to select Headings 2,3 etc but is there only the option to set one type of heading here?

Thanks in advance.

h1, h2, h3 tags etc are made up by using opening <h1> and closing </h1> tags around the text (in html view), then when you see it in normal view the text should be larger depending on what tag you use.

If you just want to have keywords for the tags then you would have tags around the word like "our <h2>online</h2> shop"

Hope that makes sense.

As above use <> button to change the view between design and code.

Have you done much keyword/phrase research?

Personally I use a keyphrase for headings as words within the phrase are picked out as keywords. Otherwise it's done as the two previous posts.

Depending on the products sometimes keyphrases are more searched for than keywords alone. It's worth checking it out anyway as you can find well searched keyphrases that competitors miss.

Hi, there,

If it were me I'd replace the text from "Congratulations" to "E-commerce solutions" with whatever I wanted as the headline title.

Not sure what you're meaning by just having the keywords as the heading. Depends what your keywords are.

Post or email me what you want and I'll see what I can do to help

Cheers,

Dave
