I thought this was an April Fool's story when I spotted it in the news earlier...

Good news, I think... Well, even Timmy Mallet would do a better job than Kinnear. :p

Very few top football players make good managers. Agree with Mondos, good to start with a championship team :D :D :D

most of the managers today were players themselves, just cos shearer hasnt managed a club before does that mean he cant do it,hes been around the game in the top level for so long and in the last 2 years he has watched more football than all the managers in the prem.

look what roy stinking keane did for them THINGS in red and white, every body ruled him out yet he did a good job,all be it with a ................. team but he did :green:

I'm no expert on all things Sunderland but didn't he spend an absolute fortune to make them slightly less than average then chucked it/got the bullet?

The first thing that I would do if I was running a football club that was in the bottom three with 8 games to go and was already on my 3rd manager of the season would be to appoint someone who has absolutely no experience of football management as the 4th manager of the season.

I would be safe in the knowledge that this, combined with reliable professionals, like Joey Barton, and expensive strikers who never feign injury when the going gets tough, like Michael Owen, would be more than enough to guarentee Premiership survival.

I think I'd like to be a deluded Geordie, just for one day, so I could see what it would be like to blindly follow ex-players as my new leader, safely removed from reality.

Liverpool could have won by 7 or 8 today. I see Barton was up to his usual tricks again. The crossbar was certainly the best player for Newcastle today.

I have many Geordie supporting mates (same for Sunderland and Middlesbrough too) and I hope you don't go down. Obviously the Boro game next weekend is key. These "6 Pointers" normally end in a draw but I fancy you to win that one.

Lets hope Newcastle and the Boro both get relegated :D

Dont let Sunderland get relegated as Spurs might buy Kantscoreagoal Jones ,if sunderland stay up they wont sell him, hooray :p

As Liverpool fans chanted yesterday " shearer should have stayed on the telly"
