Removing site title from product description

Postby shazam » Fri Mar 05, 2010 10:38 am

I've noticed my zen cart is including my sites title in the auto generated meta product description.

e.g. if my site title is 'bobs fruit shop' and im selling a red apple my product description would end up being 'bobs fruit shop red apple lovely taste etc etc'

Anyone know how to stop this?

Edited out as I think it's wrong.

hi Shazam,

In zencart admin

Catalog -> Product Types

Your meta options are about half way down the page

Show Metatags Title Default - Product Title
Show Metatags Title Default - Product Name
Show Metatags Title Default - Product Model
Show Metatags Title Default - Product Price
Show Metatags Title Default - Product Tagline

Thanks Redspell - but which one is it that controls what i'm after do you know? Product Title and Product Tagline are set at 0 but that doesn't seem to change anything.

Hi shazam,

I theory it should do, have you tried clearing your cache/browser history?

Shazam,

Have you looked at your includes/languages/english/meta_tags.php file?

Make sure that your custom meta is set for index page only.

I'm not really sure which custom meta you're referring to, I can't really see anything obvious in there.. however i've simply removed my defined 'title' and it's done what I need, even though it's probably not the correct way of doing it :)
